Handy Memorial Cemetery 402 B Street LaFayette, AL 36862. Her body will lie in state at the Kingdom Hall one hour prior to the service. Brother Dana Thomas will officiate.
Mrs. Jimmie Lou Evans was born to the late Monroe Shealy and Alice Evans on May 24, 1945, in Lafayette, Alabama. She passed away on May 7, 2023, at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, Alabama.
She married the late Charles McFarlin Sr. on September 22, 1962. From this union, they had 2 daughters and 2 sons. They were happily married until the time of his death in 2005. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family and friends, who affectionately called her Granny.
She was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on October 10, 1980. Since then, she enjoyed spending most of her time in the full-time ministry, teaching others about God’s Kingdom and all its promises. Even during the COVID-19 pandemic and at times when she didn’t feel her best, she enjoyed meeting with her friends on Zoom to encourage them and witness to the public. She set a beautiful example of faithfully attending Christian meetings and regularly participating in the ministry until the time of her death.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Monroe Shealy and Alice Evans, her late husband Charles McFarlin Sr., son Charles McFarlin Jr., and sister, Emily Hill.
She is survived by one sister: Margaret Portis of Louisville, Kentucky. Two daughters: Linda (Jeff) Ross of Jonesboro, Georgia, and Brenda (Lester) Finley of Augusta, Georgia. One son: Phillip (April) McFarlin Sr. of Lafayette, Alabama. Three grandsons: Marcus Ross of Atlanta, Georgia; Lester Finley Jr. of Augusta, Georgia, and Phillip (Rachel) McFarlin Jr. of St. Augustine, Florida. Six granddaughters: Pamela “Kodie” Ross of Stone Mountain, Georgia; Alysia (Algernon) Banks of Columbus, Georgia; Danielle McFarlin of Fayetteville, Georgia; Kelsey McFarlin of Troy, Alabama; Brittany (Devin) Pruitt of Augusta, Georgia, and Alexis Finley of Augusta, Georgia. Six great-grandsons: Karson, Aiden, Levi, Devin Jr., Cody, and Jace. Three great-granddaughters: Sierra, Morgan, and Cali. Two sister-in-laws: Martha Griffin of Lanett, Alabama and Nancy McFarlin of Ozark, Alabama. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, special neighbors, and friends.
