Funeral service for Mrs. Annie Lee Evans Johnson, 96, of Lanett, AL will be held at noon EST Thursday, January 11, 2024 at Pilgrim Baptist Church 420 N. 12th Ave, Lanett, AL. Dr. Frederick James, Pastor/Officiating.
Interment will follow in Hillcrest Garden Cemetery 3317 Country Club Rd. Lanett, AL.
Public visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 from 2:00 – 6:00 pm EST at Morgan & Sons Funeral Home in Lanett, AL.
Mrs. Annie Lee Evans Johnson was born to the late Ms. Nina B. Cartlidge and Mr. Robert Evans on July 28, 1927 in Chambers County, Alabama. She gained her wings into eternal rest on January 5, 2024 at her residence in Lanett, Alabama.
She received most of her formal education in the public schools of Chambers County. In her early years, she united in holy matrimony with Mr. Willie Louis Johnson Sr. From this union they were blessed with two children, Willie Louis Johnson Jr. and Robert Jerome Johnson. In her latter years, she was united in holy matrimony with Rev. Josephus Johnson. From this union they were blessed with two children, Patricia J. Davis, and Sylvia J. Heard.
She joined the Pilgrim Baptist Church and served faithfully with the following ministries until her health started to decline: Minister’s Wife, Senior Choir, Missionary Society, Kitchen Ministry, and Nursery Ministry.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Josephus Johnson; parents, Nina Cartlidge and Robert Evans; daughter-in-law, Antoinette “Toni” Johnson.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories, her children, Willie Johnson Jr., Lanett, Al, Robert Jerome (Marilyn) Johnson, Locust Grove, GA, Patricia Ann (Nathaniel) Davis, Lanett, AL, and Sylvia J. Heard, Union City, GA; 9 grandchildren, Winfred C. Johnson, Michelle Johnson, Johnathan (Letisha) Coleman, Anthony (Tracy) Williams, Christopher (Rubine) Johnson, Tonya Johnson, Tabitha (Arthur) English, Gregory Johnson, Tobi (Lateika) Johnson, and Adam Tyrone Davis; 13 great grandchildren, Marquette, Jessica, Andre’, Jasmine, Kadejah, Tramine, Sharmaine, Shanice, Cody, Kathelyn, Makaila, Brodeigha, and a host of extended family, cousins, friend and church family.
