Funeral service for Mr. Anthony “Man” McCants, 52, of Lanett, AL will be held at 2:00 PM EST Saturday, January 20, 2024 at Lanier Avenue Church of Christ 1009 North Lanier Avenue, Lanett, AL.

Interment will follow in Hillcrest Garden Cemetery 3317 Country Club Rd. Lanett, AL.

Public visitation will be held on Friday, January 19, 2024 from 2:00 – 6:00 PM EST at Morgan & Sons Funeral Home in Lanett, AL. 

Mr. Anthony (Man) McCants, son of the late Mr. Charlie Lee Varner and Ms. Elsie Mae McCants, was born on July 8, 1971 in Chambers County, Alabama. He departed this life on Monday, January 15, 2024 at East Alabama Medical Center Lanier in Valley, Alabama.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Charlie James Varner, Quinton McCants, and Jerome Varner; three sisters, Katherine Varner, Diane Allen, and Audreia M. Darden; sister-in-law, Mary McCants; one nephew, Master Marquis McCants.

He accepted Christ at an early age and was added to the Church of Christ under the leadership of Minster Robert Ellison.

He attended the Lanett City Schools as well as Job Corp training in Tuskegee, AL. He was a skilled brick mason, roofer, and carpenter.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories, his loving wife, Deborah McCants, Valley, AL; one son, Anthony DeShawn (Dena Sheree) McCants, Hogansville, Ga; two daughters, Ashley and Brittany Crutchfield, Atlanta Ga; three grandchildren, Malik Taylor, Zoey Ash, and DeAnthony Kelly Jr. all of Atlanta, Ga. Seven brothers, Troy McCants, Eddie Crim, Frank McQueen, Alvin McCants Jr., Milton (Tonya) McCants, Herman (Shirleen) McCants, McCary (Margaret) McCants; three sisters, Rosa Varner, Ethel (Garry) Freeman, and Angela (Clarence) Moody; special nephew, Amos Hitachi (Sheka) Moody, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
